The subjunctive is used to express something that might happen. It is used to give advice, recommendations, suggestions, or demands to another person.

Usually, there is the first sentence in the regular present tense (introducing a suggestion, demand, from someone) and a second one (called **dependent clause**), including a verb in the subjunctive form, which tells what the person wants you to do. Go to page 105 of this book, to read about it.

The verbs in subjunctive form follow the same rules as the **Ud.** and **Uds.** commands.

To form the present tense of the subjunctive, you have to do the next:

Find the **Yo** present tense form of the verb.
Drop the final **o**.

To the **-ar** verbs add an **-e** **-es**, **-e**, **-emos**, **-éis**, **-en**.
