* The phrases are:
**(no) apreciar**: (not) appreciate
**(no) cuidar la casa**: (not) care for the house
**estar harto/a (de)**: being fed up (with)
**(no) hacerle caso a alguien**: (not) listen to someone

Sonia, my sister, is jealous of me for marrying before her. She gets along awfully with my boyfriend, and he can’t stand her. She doesn’t appreciate anything I do for her.

Exercise 6
Step 1
1 of 2
In this exercise, you need to describe a good friend of yours and answer: What are they like? Do you agree on everything? Do you sometimes argue? Do you have fun when you’re together? Do they always follow your advice? Do they lie sometimes?

So, you could write:

*Mi buen amigo Juan es divertido, interesante y honesto. No estamos de acuerdo en todo, y a veces discutimos, pero no nos enojamos. No tenemos que estar de acuerdo en todo si nos divertimos juntos. No siempre sigue mis consejos, pero él sabe lo que es mejor para él. Nunca me miente, ni yo le miento a él.*

My good friend Juan is fun, interesting and honest. We don’t agree on everything, and sometimes we argue, but we don’t get upset. We don’t need to agree on everything if we have fun together. He doesn’t always follow my advice, but he knows what’s best for him. He never lies to me, and I don’t lie to him.

Step 2
2 of 2
Then, in groups, you need to write a list of five things good friends do and five things good friends never do. So, you could write:
|Los buenos amigos… (good friends…) | Los buenos amigos nunca… (good friends never…)|
|–|–|
| Se preocupan por ti (worry about you) | Te ignoran si estás triste (ignore you if you’re sad) |
| Te ayudan en lo que pueden (help you in what they can) | Se burlan de ti (make fun of you) |
|Se alegran cuando estás feliz (get happy when you’re happy) | Se enojan porque estás feliz con otra persona (get upset when you’re happy with someone else)|
|Dicen la verdad (tell the truth) | Mienten (lie)|
