Page 74: Vocabulario B
The objective of this exercise is to practise the use of Spanish vocabulary.
A set of five tasks is given in this exercise. In each task, there is a word missing. You will read each task thoroughly to understand its meaning. Then, have a look at the options offered for each blank. Each task contains clues pointing at the right solution. Below, you will find an analysis for each task.
RaĂşl está _ porque tiene examen de ciencias. Es muy difĂcil.
In this task, you will say how RaĂşl is feeling about the exam. Logically, he could either be “contento” or “nervioso” about it. However, the next sentence tells you that the exam is difficult, which leads you to choose “nervioso” as the right option.
Here, the subject needs books. The only logical solution for this task is “la biblioteca”.
The third task is also clear. Students would buy drinks at “la cafeterĂa”.
In this example, the subject has a lot of homework. Three logical solutions are possible: Susana could either be bored, busy or calm. However, this sentence alone does not give enough information to say that she is either bored or calm, thus you would select “ocupada” as the adecuate solution.
Finally, this sentence says that music class is not boring. Logically, this can only be because the teacher is interesting.
Note how option B (emocionada) is in the feminine grammatical gender. This means that you would not choose this options since it does not agree with the grammatical subject.
2. la biblioteca
3. la cafeterĂa
4. ocupada
5. interesante
The purpose of this exercise is to practise the use of adjectives in Spanish.
Four incomplete sentences are given in this exercise. Each sentence contains information on either Roberto or Lorena. As the exercise suggests, one is the opposite of the other. This means that you will complete the sentence by using the opposite description of either one of them. Remember, opposites are called antonyms in linguistics. Think of meaning, as it will make it easier for you to find an antonym. Always match the adjective with the word or phrase it describes. You may refer to the below solutions for further guidance.
2. aburrido
3. tranquila
4. difĂcil
The purpose of this exercise is to practise writing in Spanish.

1. Cuando saco una buena nota, estoy contento.
2. Cuando tengo un examen difĂcil, estoy nervioso.
3. En mi clase hay siete ventanas.
