Exercise 3
Step 1
1 of 4
Objective.
The purpose of this exercise is to practise the use of the unstressed form of the direct object.
Step 2
2 of 4
Method.
In this exercise, there are four sets of elements of a sentence: the grammatical subject, the direct object and the verb in its infinitive form. You will replace the direct object with the adecuate unstressed form and conjugate the verb to match the subject. Remember to attach the unstressed form to the infinitive when the verb is not conjugated. You may follow the below solutions for further guidance.
Step 3
3 of 4
Note.

In point number four, it says that “you have to call us tomorrow”. As you know, “tener que + infinitivo” is a verbal periphrasis, where “tener” is conjugated and the other verb is not. This allows you to choose where to put the unstressed form of the direct object: before the conjugated form or attached to the infinitive. This automatically means that you either use the unstressed direct object before the periphrasis or attached to it:

A. Tienes que llamarnos mañana.
B. Nos tienes que llamar mañana.
