In this exercise, there is a set of five statements about Spain. You will read them carefully and decide whether each statement is true or false. You will consult the cultural texts on pages 190, 225, 230 and 234. Read the texts thoroughly to understand their meaning and pay special attention to details, such as terms in parentheses. You may follow the below solutions for further guidance.

In this exercise, there is an incomplete chart. You are given five different places in Madrid and Santiago de Chile. You will consult the cultural texts on pages 225 and 234-235 in your manual. Read the text carefully to understand it and then complete the chart by saying what things one can do at those places. Given the small variety of adecuate responses, only use the below example as a reference of how your chart should look like.
La Casa del Campo – visitar el zoológico, nadar en la piscina, pasear
El Rastro – comprar objetos antiguos y de segunda mano
La Plaza Mayor – pasear, comer, visitar el mercado de sellos los domingos
Plaza de Armas – pasear, acudir a conciertos los domingos
Cerro San Cristóbal – correr, comer, montar en bici
The objective of this exercise is to practise writing in Spanish.
For this exercise, you will write a paragraph about the places in Madrid you would like to visit. Refer to texts about Spain in your manual or do an on-line research and pick a few places. Describe them and say why you like them. Given the personal nature of this exercise, only use the below example as a reference.
According to the exercise, you are expected to write in the conditional mood (would visit) even though you have not learned yet how to use it. Instead, you can write about what places you want or wish to visit. Just make sure you use an infinitive after “I want” or “I wish”. You will learn why later on.
La capital española tiene muchas peculiaridades que quiero visitar. Me encantan sus grandes plazas antiguas, como la Plaza de Colón o Cibeles. La arquitectura madrileña me atrae mucho y deseo conocerla lo más posible, incluso las torres de Madrid. También hay muchos museos importantes y conocidos, como el Prado, el Thyssen-Bornemisza o el Arqueológico. Después de hacer turismo, quiero descansar en el Retiro o pasar un día entero en la Casa del Campo.
