Exercise 2
Step 1
1 of 5
Objective.
Reading with comprehension.
Step 2
2 of 5
Method.
Three questions are given in this exercise. You will find the relevant texts and answer in full sentences. Remember, there are a number of possibilities to express the correct answer. Therefore, only use the below analyses as a reference of how your answers might look like.
Step 3
3 of 5
Analysis.

For the first question, head over to page 72 in your manual. Read the text once again. The last sentence contains information about San Antonio’s El Mercado. It says that you can listen to mariachi music over there, thus your answer would go along these lines:

En los Estados Unidos, puedo escuchar música de los mariachi en San Antonio, Texas.

Step 4
4 of 5
For the next question, turn to page 60. Once again, read through the short text and find information about what Tex-Mex is. Simplify this information and respond in Spanish. Then add two examples of Tex-Mex cuisine from the text.

Example: Tex-Mex es una cocina típica que mezcla los platos de México y Texas. Unos ejemplos son fajitas y chili con carne.

Step 5
5 of 5
The third question is about Calle Ocho. Go over to page 73 in your manual. Read the text and pay attention to all the things people can do there. You can use the fact that people go for a walk there to expand your answer.

Example: Calle Ocho está en la Pequeña Habana, en Miami. Allí, la gente puede pasear, comer sándwiches cubanos y beber jugo de mango.

Exercise 3
Step 1
1 of 3
Objective.
The objective of this exercise is to practise writing in Spanish.
Step 2
2 of 3
Method.
The task requires you to write about what you did during your trip to San Antonio. You are expected to use knowledge from this lesson about San Antonio. However, feel free to expand this by using everything you have learned until now to practise vocabulary and grammar.

Note: According to the exercise, you are required to describe an event from the past even though you did not learn how to use past tenses. Imagine that you are in the middle of your trip at the time of writing your postcard. Use sentences with general meaning in the present tense, e.g. “Over here, I skateboard with my family, I visit museums and monuments, such as Álamo…”.

This is a task of a personal nature, thus only refer to the below example as a reference of how your postcard should look like.

Step 3
3 of 3
Example.

Hola, Jorge:
