Exercise 2
Step 1
1 of 4
Objective.
The purpose of this exercise is to practise the use of Spanish vocabulary.
Step 2
2 of 4
Method.
Five incomplete sentences are given in this exercise. You will read them carefully to understand what they mean. Then, you will choose the adecuate word from the box to complete each sentence. You may refer to the below solutions for further guidance.
Step 3
3 of 4
Note.

El maestro escribe en el pizarrón. Él necesita _ y _.

Regarding the sentence number 2, you would be looking for a direct object (He needs + direct object). When this direct object is a countable noun, like “borrador”, you would determine it with an article; in this case, with an indefinite article. “Tiza” is also a countable noun, but in the box, it does not appear together with the expected article (una). This suggests that the direct object (borrador y tiza) is considered a single unit. This means that you would treat both items as a single group and use one article to determine it. You would then agree the article with the first element of the group: “un borrador” appears as such in the box, thus the adecuate order would be “un borrador y tiza”.
