Five statements are given in this task. You will decide whether each is true of false. Refer to texts in your manual, that cover cultural topics. Below, you will find an analysis for each statement.
Head over to page 60 in your manual. You have read this text several times by now. Take a look at the second sentence. You will see that your gut instinct was right: Tex-Mex is a mixture of Mexican and Texan cooking styles, thus this statement is false.
Skip to page 68. Again, this is a text that you have already seen various times. Read it once again. In the first sentence, you will see that “cascarones” are filled with confetti, which means that this is a false statement.
Back to page 60, read through the text to double-check this statement. In line four, you will see that, amongst others, “chili con carne” is indeed a Tex-Mex dish. Hence, this statement is true.
Stay on the same page and continue reading. By the end of the text, you will see that black beans are traditional ingredients in Mexico, thus this statement is true.
For the last statement, turn to page 72 in your manual. As you read through the text, you will see that Álamo is indeed one of San Antonio’s attractions, which means that this statement is true.

This is a writing exercise based on what you have read on page 68. Read the text again and pay attention to what “cascarones” are and what you do with them. The exercise requires you to say how they are made, however, you will notice that the text makes no mention of how to make them. A quick research on-line will tell you that first you need to remove the egg white and yolk, and then stuff them with confetti.
Remember, this is a free-writing exercise, thus the below example is not the only appropriate way to write the guide.
