In this exercise, there is a set of incomplete sentences. You will read them carefully and complete them by using the appropriate conjugated form of the verb.

All of these verbs will undergo a phonetic change in their stem. The stressed “e” will become the diphtong “ie”. A diphtong is a single vowel made up of a weak semivowel (i) and a strong vowel (e). They are pronounced as a single vowel (ie) and they make a single syllable. The change occurs only when the “e” is stressed in conjugated forms. This is why it does not appear in the infinitive form. You have already learned to use such a verb: “tener”.
