In this exercise, there is a set of four incomplete sentences. You will complete them by choosing the adecuate option. Refer to texts about Puerto Rican and Salvadorean culture on pages 136, 138 and 146 in your manual. Below, you will find an analysis of each statement.

Analysis.

La piragua is a name for a Puerto Rican _.

Turn to page 138 in your manual. At the bottom of the page, you will find that piragua is a popular cold treat.

A typical Salvadorean food is the _.

For this statement, turn to page 146 and read the text about creole cuisine once again. In the second part, it talks about typical foods in El Salvador. You will notice that pupusa is a typical local food.

The capital of Puerto Rico is _.

By now, you have learned that the capital od P.to Rico is San Juan. You can find this information on page 136 in your manual.

The currency of Puerto Rico is the _.

Once again, have a look at the data on page 136. Under “moneda”, you will see that Puerto Rico uses the US dollar as its currency.

Objective.
The purpose of this exercise is to practise writing in Spanish.

Method.
For this exercise, you will create a menu for a Puerto Rican restaurant. Read the text on page 146 in your manual and use the information therein for your menu. Follow the instructions in the exercise on how to write the menu. Below, you will find an example. Only use it as a reference of how your text might look like.

Example.

En este restaurante servimos comida criolla. Es una mezcla de las cocinas española, indígena y africana. Hoy preparamos unos tostones ricos de plátanos macho nutritivos por sólo un dólar. De segundo plato sugerimos el arroz con gandules por diez dólares. De postre te invitamos a una piragua muy buena o un café si te gusta más. Todo el menú vale trece dólares.
