Reading with comprehension.
In this exercise, there is an e-mail written by a student. Read it twice to understand it and head onto the statements section. Based on the information from the text, decide whether each statement is true (cierto; C) or false (falso; F). Below, you will find an analysis of each statement.
A Carmen no le gusta la comida nutritiva.
At the beginning of the message, Carmen says that she needs to eat more nutritious foods. She then adds that she likes other food better. This is hint that the first statement is true.
For this statement, think about what Carmen is saying in her message. There is no explicit mention that chips are good or bad, however Carmen feels she should eat more nutritious foods, which hints at the fact that this statement is false.
Regarding the third statement, you will notice how Carmen always has soft drinks for breakfast. Even though this refers specifically to breakfast, the fact that she says she needs to consume more nutritious foods means that this statement is false.
With reference to the previous statement, Carmen says she always has soft drinks during breakfast, but makes no mention of orange juice. This leads you to mark this statement as false.
This is a trick question. It depends on how literal your understanding of the terms “menĂş” and “lista” are. Technically, a menu is a list of foods, which is precisely what Carla has in her notebook. Thus, the two terms may be used as synonyms or not if the intention is to differentiate between a list and a menu, where the latter would be more organised.
To conclude, this statement can either be true or false, depending on how you understand it.
