Sarah: Oh, sorry but I’m having fun here.

A hate crime is a crime that is committed by someone who has malice toward someone’s identity and his/her affiliation with a certain group (e.g., race and religion). When you use a hurtful word in order to discriminate and attack someone’s gender identity, religion, race, or ethnicity, then you are committing hateful conduct.

Of all the crimes that occur in our daily lives, hate crimes are likely to trigger a wide racial conflict, civil disturbances, and riots. In this case, there is a dire need to know how to tolerate and condemn this type of crime. This would prevent cities and towns to experience social and economic consequences over time.

In the event that you have been a victim or a witness of hate crimes, you must talk to a trusted adult and an experienced civil rights attorney to assist you in this kind of situation.
