I: Mom I am very sad, the kids at school laughed at me and said I`m ugly!

Mom: You are not ugly! Can you explain to me why they are talking to you like that?

I: They said I have ugly face and that I am fat.

Mom: First of all my dear, no one is ugly. Everybody is pretty on their own way. So are you. There is no one in the world who looks like you and you need to feel special about that. They can’t take your personality so make it a nice one and be kind to others even though they have laughed at you. Tell them you forgive them.

I: But I am fat, mom!

Mom: If you feel unhappy with yourself, you can do something about it and I will help you. We will work on it together and you will see it will pay off. But this is not something you need to feel bad and depressed. This is one thing you can easily change and I will show you how. OK?

I: Ok mom. Thank you for being so kind and loving to me.

My family is made up of one-of-a-kind people who are deeply rooted in humility and gratitude. We are not just an ordinary bunch, but that does not make us better than anybody else. Like most families, we encounter little issues, hardships, and misunderstanding but we always manage to resolve them peacefully by addressing the situation and by being honest and transparent with our feelings and thoughts. My parents like to negotiate and solve conflicts in a positive way. They wanted us to learn how to work together toward reaching the best solution that would solve our problems. In this way, we feel like we are working together as a team and we also get to broaden out problem-solving and decision-making skills.
