Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs is a theory of motivation which states that five categories of human needs dictate an individual’s behavior. Those needs are: physiological needs (need to satisfy basic needs of hunger, thirst, sleep and shelter), safety needs (need to be secure of danger), love and belonging needs (need to love and be loved and need to belong), feeling recognized (esteem needs- need to achieve or to be recognized) and reaching potential (self-actualization needs).
