textbf{Torna-Do’s and Don’t’s: How to Stay Alive During a Tornado}
$$
Through the years, tornadoes have been causing a great deal of damage in different countries. This is due to the massive winds that cause destruction along its path. Because of this, it is very important to know how to stay safe during a tornado. The following are the do’s and don’t’s before, during, and after a tornado.
Before a tornado, there has to be a clear-cut family emergency plan. It is also advisable to have an emergency kit that contains emergency medications. This emergency kit must be easily accessible for everyone. It is also important to look for signs of a possible tornado coming. These signs include a dark, greenish sky, large hail, large, dark, low-lying clouds, and loud roaring noise akin to an approaching freight train.
During a tornado, the safest room to hide are basements, cellars, or the lowest part of the building. Do not stay near windows, doors, or outside walls. Also, windows should not be opened. If in any case, you are outside with no shelter nearby, get inside the car, buckle your seatbelt, and keep your head lower than the window. However, if no car is available, find an area lower than the ground and never stay under bridges or highway overpasses.
Finally, after an earthquake, wear shoes that are sturdy to prevent possible harm from shards of broken glass on the ground. Do not manipulate wirings to avoid electrocution. Seek help from authorities and stay calm.
