The first thing you have to do, is complete the table with the definitions of the following words:
1. la cartera (*the purse*)
2. el escáner (*the scanner*)
3. las gafas de sol (*the sunglasses*)
4. la contraseña (*the password*)

So, in this first step you can answer this:
1. **La cartera**: accesorio que se utiliza para guardar los documentos personales, el dinero y otras cosas cuando sales.
(*The purse: Accessory that is used to store personal documents, money and other things when you go out*.)
2. **El escáner**: dispositivo que se utiliza para capturar imágenes de un documento físico y convertirlo en un archivo de imagen digital.
(*The scanner: Device used to capture images from a physical document and convert it into a digital image file*.)
3. **Las gafas de sol**: accesorio que se utiliza para proteger los ojos de la luz solar.
(*The sunglasses: accessory used to protect the eyes from sunlight.*)
4. **La contraseña**: se utiliza para controlar y proteger el acceso a determinada información.
(*The password: It is used to control and protect access to certain information.*)

As a second step, you are going to write four sentences using the previous information and the following expressions.
1. a fin de que (*so that*)
2. a menos que (*unless*)
3. antes de que (*before that*)
4. sin que (*without*)

So, you can write the following sentences:
1. Usaré la cartera **a fin de que** pueda llevar todo lo que necesito.
(*I’ll use the purse **so that** I can carry everything I need.*)
2. Debes aprender a utilizar el escáner **sin que** el jefe te lo pida.
(*You must learn to use the scanner **without** being asked by the boss.*)
3. Necesito comprarme unas gafas de sol **a menos que** alguien me las regale por mi cumpleaños.
(*I need to buy some sunglasses **unless** someone gives them to me for my birthday.*)
4. Debes crear una contraseña de acceso a tu computadora **antes de que** alguien pueda entrar sin tu permiso.
(*You must create a password to access your computer **before** someone can enter without your permission.*)

As a third and final step, you are going to evaluate your writing using the information in the table provided.

In this exercise, you need to complete this chart explaining what these things are used for.

* **la cartera**, the purse: *sirve para llevar cosas* (it’s useful to carry things)

* **el escáner**, the scanner: *sirve para escanear documentos* (it’s useful to scan documents)
* **las gafas de sol**, the sunglasses: *sirven para proteger los ojos del sol* (they’re useful to protect our eyes from the sun)
* **la contraseña**, the password: *sirve para guardar tu información* (it’s useful to safekeep your information).

Then, you need to write four full sentences with the information above and the given expressions. So, you could write:

1. *Usamos gafas de sol **a fin de que** el sol no lastime nuestros ojos.*
We wear sunglasses so that the sun won’t hurt our eyes.

2. *Usamos una cartera **a menos que** tengamos pocas cosas que llevar.*
We use a purse unless we don’t have to carry many things.

3. *Crea una contraseña **antes de que** alguien lea la información de tu teléfono celular.*
Create a password before someone reads the information in your cell phone.

4. *El escáner puede subir los documentos a la computadora **sin que** haya que sacarles una foto.*
The scanner can upload documents to the computer without having to take a picture of them.
