Exercise 1
Step 1
1 of 3
In this exercise we have to match the questions to the correct responses. Thanks to the conjugation *se llama* and the subject *èl*, we know that number one asks “What is his name?”
Step 2
2 of 3
Of the four possible answers, we have two that are clearly not correct (a. and c.) because they are using first person conjugations (*Me llamo* meaning MY name is and *soy* meaning I am). The other two both contain the correct conjugations of *llamarse* but only one contains a masculine name, which we saw in step one is necessary due to the subject being *èl* and not *ella*.

b. Se llama Pablo
Exercise 2
Step 1
1 of 2
Thanks to the third person singular conjugation (*se llama*) and the subject (*ella*), we know this translates as “What is her name?”. The only difference between this question and the last question is the gender of the third person, this one being female. So as the last answer was *se llama* and a male name, this one will conceivably be *se llama* followed by a female name.

d. Se llama Josefina
Exercise 3
Step 1
1 of 2
This question contains the formal *usted*, although none of the responses contain any context clues that the responder is an adult (*el señor, la señora, el doctor,* etc.). While the translation is simply “What is your name?” in the formal sense, we have the possibility of a few responses. Both A. and C. are grammatically correctly responses, since both of them respond in the first person singular conjugation (*soy* meaning I am and *Me llamo* meaning my name is).

Exercise 4
Step 1
1 of 2
Much like the last question, this one is asking “What is your name?” although unlike the last question, we’re using the familiar conjugation *te llamas* instead of the formal *se llama usted*. Once again, the two answers that could be correct for the last one could both be correct for this one as well, since we have no context clues differentiating one answer as formal and one as familiar.
