Exercise 1
Step 1
1 of 3
This exercise is designed to help you solidify the conjugations of the verb *ser* (to be). While you may make up other endings to the sentences, what’s important is being able to conjugate *ser* for all the subjects on the left of the page.
Step 2
2 of 3
The first subject is Yo. We know the first person singular of *ser* is *soy* from the phrase *soy Amanda* and *soy de Estados Unidos* (introductions and where you’re from).
*My best friend and I*, the next subject, can also be thought of as we, *nosotros* in spanish. You’ll see from the chart on page 24 that the “we” conjugation of *ser* is *somos*
Since your Spanish teach is an adult, someone to be spoken of formally, we use the *usted* form of *ser* which is the same as the *èl/ella* form, *es*.
*Hoy/Mañana* (today/tomorrow) are two individual, definite points in time, so we know we will be using the verb *ser* in the singular, third-person form.
