Exercise 1
Step 1
1 of 4
In this activity, you are asked to partner up and describe what Alicia and Rodrigo like and dislike based on the three pictures given.
Since these answers will be subjective, here you’ll be provided with a few hints to help you and your partner have a good Spanish conversation.
Step 2
2 of 4
Since we’re talking about likes and dislikes, we will definitely be using forms of *gustar*. Review page 62 on the various conjugations of *gustar* and how to use it.
Remember to precede names with *a* when talking about specific people who like or don’t like things. For example, when talking about the second picture, you might say “*A Alicia le gustan los videojuegos*”.
Step 3
3 of 4
Looking at the pictures, take stock of the nouns you can use in your sentences. All of the pictured items were part of your vocabulary this chapter. Remember, if a noun is plural, like *los deportes*, you will use precede it with the plural *gustan*. But if a noun is singular, like *la mĂşsica de rock*, you will precede it with the singular *gusta*
Step 4
4 of 4
You will be using two forms of *gusta* here, one to refer to both Alicia and Rodrigo together (as in the first picture), and one to refer to each of them seperately (as in the second and third pictures). Use *le gusta(n)* as the singluar “he” or “she”, and *les gusta(n)* when you want to refer to “they” (as in, “the like romantic movies”.
