Exercise 1
Step 1
1 of 5
In this section, you are asked to say write two sentences per question: One saying where the given subjects go in their free time, and one detailing what game they play when they get to where they are going. The example reads, “Sonia goes to the park. She plays tennis.”

Your first subject is *yo* and the given game is chess.

Step 2
2 of 5
In your sentences you will be using the verbs *ir* and *jugar*, to say where you go and what you play. On page 100 you learned how to conjugate both of these verbs in the present tense, and learned that they are both irregular in some way.
Step 3
3 of 5
Since our subject is *yo*, we will conjugate *ir* in the *yo* form to form your first sentence. You will have to choose a place that you would travel to to play chess. For example, maybe you play chess at your friend’s house, in which case you would say “*yo voy a la casa de mi amigo”*. Since this answer is subjective, it will not be included in the final “Results” cell.
Step 4
4 of 5
Now you will have to conjugate *jugar* for the same subject (*yo*). You’ve learned that the form of *jugar* has a “u” to “ue” stem-change. Follow this form of *jugar* with the appropriate *a* + *el* + chess (*ajedrez*). Remember that *a* and *el* combine to form *al*.
Result
5 of 5
Juego al ajedrez.
Exercise 2
Step 1
1 of 5
In this section, you are asked to say write two sentences per question: One saying where the given subjects go in their free time, and one detailing what game they play when they get to where they are going. The example reads, “Sonia goes to the park. She plays tennis.”

Your second subject is *tĂș* and the picture shows some video games.

Step 2
2 of 5
On page 100, you learned how to conjugate *ir* and*jugar* for the present tense. You also learned that these two verbs have irregular conjugations. You will use a conjugation of *ir* in the first sentence and a conjugation of *jugar* in the second.
Step 3
3 of 5
Our given subject is *tĂș*, which means you will be conjugating both of these verbs in the *tĂș* form. The first sentence is subjective, as you will be saying where the subject goes to play video games. This may be a friend’s house or some other place, what’s important is that your sentence begins *”tĂș vas a…”* (“you go to…”), followed by an article and a place (for example, “*…la casa de tu amiga*”).
Step 4
4 of 5
In the second sentence, you will be using *jugar*, in its second-person, singular form. Remember that *jugar* has a stem-change in some of its conjugations, in our case resulting in “*juegas*”. Following *juegas*, you will add “*a*”, an article and the object, “*video juegos”*. Since *”video juegos*” is masculine and plural, you know it will take the article “*los*”.
Result
5 of 5
Juegas a los video juegos.
Exercise 3
Step 1
1 of 5
In this section, you are asked to say write two sentences per question: One saying where the given subjects go in their free time, and one detailing what game they play when they get to where they are going. The example reads, “Sonia goes to the park. She plays tennis.”

Your third subject is “my best friend” and the picture shows a baseball uniform.

Step 2
2 of 5
You will be writing two sentence in your response: one using a form of *ir* and one using a form of *jugar*. On page 100 you learned how to conjugate both of these verbs in the present tense, and learned that they are both irregular.
Step 3
3 of 5
Our given subject in this question is “my best friend”. Since we could also think of our best friend as “he” or “she”, we will be conjugating *ir* in the *”Ă©l, ella, usted”* form. The chart on page 100 shows us that this conjugation is “*va*”. You will have to choose a place that they will go to play baseball. “*El parque”* is a good option, and that would make your sentence “*mi mejor amigo/a va al parque”*. Since this sentence is subjective, it will not be included in the “Results” cell.
Step 4
4 of 5
For your second sentence, you will conjugate “*jugar*” for the same subject (*mi mejor amigo/a*). Since *”jugar*” has a stem-change in the “*Ă©l, ella, usted*” form, the resulting verb is “*juega*”. As you learned in the beginning of this chapter, you will follow a conjugation of *”jugar”* with *a* + article + sport. In this case, our sport is “*bĂ©isbol”*, which uses a masculine article. Remember that *a* + *el* results in *al*.
Result
5 of 5
Mi mejor amigo/a juega al béisbol.
