Exercise 1
Step 1
1 of 3
This exercise is asking us how we would introduce various people in our lives. The vocabulary lists on this page (page 10) should help you immensely.
The example reads “This is Antonio. He is my classmate.”
This first question asks how we would introduce Ana, who is our best friend.
Step 2
2 of 3
We’ve learned from our vocab that we use *èste* to introduce males and *èsta* to introduce females. So in this case we’d use *èsta* to introduce Ana.
The vocab box to the left will show you how to say that someone is your best friend, but remember that “best friend” in Spanish is gender sensitive.
Result
3 of 3
Èsta es Ana. Ella es mi mejor amiga.
Exercise 2
Step 1
1 of 2
In this question we’re asked to introduce our best friend Juan. As we talked about in the last question, we will be using the masculine form *èste* (this) when introducing someone in an informal setting. The vocab box to the left will help you with the remainder of the phrase.
Result
2 of 2
Èste es Juan. Èl es mi mejor amigo.
Exercise 3
Step 1
1 of 2
Much like the last problem, we will be using the masculine form *èste* here, since the subject is Enrique, a boy. Remember that in Spanish, the word “classmate” translates literally to “companion from class”: *compañero de clase*.
Result
2 of 2
Èste es Enrique. Èl es un compañero de clase.
Exercise 4
Step 1
1 of 2
In this question you are asked to introduce your classmate Luisa. Since Luisa uses feminine pronouns, make sure you are using the feminine *èsta* instead of the masculine *èste*, which is what you’ve used in the last two questions. Similarly, make sure you’re using the feminine form when you write classmate.
Result
2 of 2
Èsta es Luisa. Ella es una compañera de clase.
Exercise 5
Step 1
1 of 2
We’re asked here to introduce our Spanish teacher. Your answer will pertain to your Spanish teacher, but for an example let’s say my teacher is el señor Garza from the previous problem. We will be using the word *éste* since el señor Garzq is a man.
Step 2
2 of 2
We want to say

This is Mr. Garza. He is my spanish teacher.

If you look on page 10 of your textbooks we can find the proper translation for “Spanish teacher” which is *profesor de español*. So our final sentence would be *éste es el señor Garza. él es mi profesor de español*.

Exercise 6
Step 1
1 of 3
Introducing yourself is a very important concept in any language. In this case, I will pretend that I am a student in your Spanish class introducing myself.
Step 2
2 of 3
We open our introduction with one of two options that we learned a few exercises ago: either *me llamo* or *soy*, which literally translate as “I call me” and “I’m”, respectively. In my case, I might start by saying *me llamo Christian*.
Step 3
3 of 3
After we say our names, we’re asked to describe what we do, or who we are in a more general sense. Since I’m pretending that I’m in your class for this example, I might say *soy estudiante* or *soy un estudiante de español*.
