Remember that the present progressive is describing what is currently happening– “He **is running!**” “She **is speaking**” etc.

The following is an example of how you might present your sports commentary:

A: Howard tiene el balón. Está corriendo corriendo hacia la meta.
*(Howard has the ball. He is running toward the goal.)*

B: ¡Él está tratando de meter un gol!
*(He is trying to score a goal!)*

A: Munoz está saltando a parar el balón. Él tiene éxito.
*(Munoz is jumping to stop the ball.)*

B: No puntos para las águilas. Howard está gritando.
*(No points for the Eagles. Howard is yelling.)*

A: El equipo de Howard está corriendo para consolarlo.
*(Howard’s team is running to console him.)*

B: Los osos tienen el balón. Duncan está compitiendo muy bien este año.
*(The bears have the ball. Duncan is competing very well this year.)*

A: Duncan ya se está acercando a la meta.
*(Duncan is already close to the goal.)*

B: ¡Está pateando el balón!
*(He is kicking the ball!)*

A: El portero no está saltando para detener el balón.
*(The goalie is not jumping to stop the ball.)*

B: Y con eso, ganan los águilas.
