What is Organizational Behavior?
Organizational behavior is the study of how individuals and groups interact within an organization. It is a field of study that looks at the influence of behavior in the workplace, including individual and group dynamics, communication, motivation, decision-making, leadership and organizational culture. Organizational behavior seeks to understand and explain why people behave the way they do in an organizational setting in order to improve performance and create a more positive work environment. For example, an organization may use training programs or team-building activities to foster better collaboration among its members or reward systems that recognize excellent performance. Additionally, it can provide insights into how different types of management styles affect employee morale and job satisfaction. Finally, organizational behavior also plays a role in addressing ethical issues by providing frameworks for understanding how ethical standards should be maintained throughout an organization’s operations. This includes analyzing what constitutes appropriate conduct in different contexts so that employees are aware of their obligations when interacting with colleagues or customers; designing policies that support transparency; and ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations related to workplace safety or data privacy.
