What is Plant And Animal Cells?
Plant and animal cells are two types of eukaryotic cells that have large amounts of structural differences. Plants and animals both contain many of the same organelles, such as the nucleus, mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum (ER), golgi apparatus, ribosomes and vacuole. However, there are some major differences between plant and animal cells related to their structures and functions. The most obvious difference between plant and animal cells is that plants contain a cell wall while animal cells do not. The cell wall provides protection to the interior parts of the cell by providing support for its shape as well as adding rigidity to it so that it does not flatten or collapse due to changes in pressure or temperature. In addition, this structure also helps protect against invading pathogens since it creates an impermeable barrier for them. Plant cell walls are made up mainly of cellulose molecules which give them strength and rigidity. Animal cells depend on other forms of protection from outside agents such as enzymes built into their plasma membrane or proteins secreted by other specialized defense organs like white blood cells. Another key difference between plant and animal cells is chloroplasts found in plant but absent in animals’scells Chloroplasts absorb light energy which they use to produce carbohydrates through photosynthesis, a process necessary for growth and survival in plants but entirely absent from animals’ cellular makeup. Lastly,animal cells lack Vacuoles while Plant Cells possess Large Vacuoles that help store food particles , water & ions inside them . Vacuoles also function in maintaining turgor pressure within the cell walls allowing plants to stay upright when exposed to external forces like wind etc . All these factors make plant’scell particularly adaptive towards their environment compared with Animal Cells.
