What is Oxygen Carbon Dioxide?
Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide are two of the most important elements on Earth. Oxygen is essential for life as it supports respiration in both plants and animals, while Carbon Dioxide is a crucial part of the cycle of photosynthesis in plants. Without oxygen, life would be impossible and without Carbon Dioxide, photosynthesis could not occur.Oxygen is a colorless gas composed of two oxygen atoms. It makes up 21% of the atmosphere and is essential for animals to breathe in order to live. Animals take oxygen from the environment through inhalation which then enters their bloodstream where it can be used for respiration within cells. Oxygen can also enter plant cells via stomata, which are small pores on the surface of leaves that allow gas exchange between the plant and its environment. Plants use oxygen during respiration as well but mainly release more than they use due to photosynthesis being their main source of energy production. Carbon Dioxide (CO2) is a colorless gas composed of one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms (CO2). It makes up around 0.04% of our atmosphere but plays an incredibly important role in sustaining life on Earth by aiding photosynthesis in plants. During photosynthesis, CO2 enters a plant cell via stomata along with water and sunlight which combine together to form sugars within the chloroplasts this sugar provides energy for growth while releasing Oxygen back into our atmosphere as a waste product (which we can use.). In conclusion, Oxygen and Carbon Dioxide are both extremely important elements that work together to sustain life on Earth: Oxygen allowing animals to breathe while Carbon Dioxide aids plants in producing energy through photosynthesis.
