In this exercise, you have to listen to a recording. To understand what is said, it would be best to revisit what you have learned on pages 298-301, 299 (activities 1-2), 301 (activity 3), 305 (activity 9), and 309 (activity 16).
Step 2
2 of 3
This recording is an interview between an announcer from a radio station and an archaeologist. You have to reply to questions in the exercise: What civilization did he study? What did he find? How did he explain what he has found? Does the announcer believe it to be a myth or a reality?
Step 3
3 of 3
To be successful in this exercise, it is best to read first the questions asked of you and then knowing what to listen to, listen to the recording and make notes when hearing the keywords asked of you in the questions. You can make the whole sentences afterward, now it is important to listen to the answers and make notes about the responses.

Exercise 6
Step 1

Choose a mysterious ruin we have mentioned in the chapter and write down what you think about it. What do you think has been its origin and function? Is it connected to a mystery or a legend? Do you think one day its mysteries will be solved?
Result

Exercise 7
Step 1
1 of 3
In this exercise, you have to think about a legend or a myth you know and think about how to explain it.
Step 2
2 of 3
Think about all you have learned in this exercise and all the myths and legends you have also heard from your classmates and pick one you liked the most. Try thinking of a way how to explain it, its origins, and the function it had.
Step 3
3 of 3
Sometimes legends and myths have special functions in society, to make it obey certain rules, to make it more obedient, to make it not question certain things and rules etc. Think if maybe your pick had that kind of purpose in the civilization it originated from.
