The pesticides soak the fields, drift with the wind, and pollute the water. Also, they have created a legacy of pain, misery, and death for farm workers (Similarity). The chemical industry promised that pesticides would bring bountiful harvests. However, the National Academy of Sciences determined that pesticides do not produce more crops (Contrast).
