Shackleton because he was not only the captain, founder of this voyage, but seemed to keep the crew active, alert and as healthy as he could through the whole trip. his knowledge of the travel and his notes proved a very worthy record of the events.

Alexander brought an already familiar story more understanding a life with her descriptive scenes of the waves, storms and treacherous journey. She gave each of the men aboard a face and personality that some may have not understood with the other accounts of the Endurance story. Using the journal, interview, common and real sailing language and descriptive words of the environment and scene all made this a new and exciting tale for people to read.
