2 – No story looks or feels the same, just as the story of American history. There are many differing viewpoints and experiences we must consider when speaking about the historical context of a country.

4 – Although the pieces may not look or feel the same, they create something beautiful when combined together or considered at the same time.

6 – Not all the pieces may be assembled right next to each other because their colors clash or their textures are too similar. In the case of Chester Avenue, even though elements may not be right next to each other, they are brought together in the same quilt and create something larger than their individual parts.

8 – Each piece of a quilt often comes from a garment that was worn for a long time or a blanket that wore out. The quilt is then assembled from pieces that can be salvaged, saved, and brought together.

A quilt is used in times of comfort, sickness and even sometimes for a birth. The tragedy of 9/11 brought the nation together, like a quilt, it was a rebirth of the unity America stands for showed the symbol of healing as well.
