a) The answer is for each of us to find on our own. In some families in America, Mexicans and Cambodians have found a way to exist, so they don’t see or understand how there could still be conflict. Other families in America hate the other race because it was how they were taught and raised. Despite their own feelings, it is what they follow. B) I think this answer was left open because we all have opinions and different ways to follow our life pathways. Some of us chose to forgive, trust and live alongside all colors. If she was to give us the answer, she would be directing us to believe one train of thought-which is not the American identity.

To be an American, means to have an identity that stems from your family, your country or your community. Each American develops their own identity and lives among those of other identites. In times of trouble, Americans come together and help each other despite this identity. In times of rest, the identity often causes trouble.
