What is Periodic Table?
The Periodic Table is a tabular arrangement of all known chemical elements, organized by their atomic number, electron configuration, and recurring chemical properties. It is one of the most fundamental tools used in chemistry and other sciences. The table was first published by Russian chemist Dimitri Mendeleev in 1869 and has since been revised multiple times to include new elements as they were discovered. The Periodic Table is made up of seven rows called periods and eighteen columns called groups. In each period, the elements are arranged in order of increasing atomic number. Each element has its own unique set of properties that make it unique from other elements; such as electronegativity, atomic radius, boiling point, etc. These properties can be compared between different elements to help classify them into groups based on similarities or differences between them. For example, metals are generally found on the left side of the table while nonmetals are found on the right side; this classification helps scientists predict how two different elements will interact with each other when combined together in a reaction. Additionally, some groups have special names like alkali metals for group 1A or halogens for group 7A which further aids scientists in understanding the periodic table and its implications for chemical reactions. Overall, the Periodic Table provides an easily accessible way to compare different elements based on their individual characteristics and to predict how those characteristics will affect a reaction between two or more different substances.
