In the past, the Internet was primarily used as a means of accessing information. However, it has now transformed into a dynamic marketplace where ideas are exchanged.

According to Spotlight (2011), the approach to online marketing is completely transformed by the fact that 40% of mobile users in the U.S. regularly access the Internet using their mobile devices. The massive 750 million active users on Facebook also play a crucial role in this shift. Furthermore, new applications are constantly being introduced on Facebook, mobile phones, and websites.

The digital age of marketing has brought about various changes. Websites such as YouTube now feature ads before videos start streaming. Even billboards can now be completely digital. Celebrity endorsements have also gone digital, with Katy Perry or Khloe Kardashian tweeting endorsements to their millions of followers, resulting in increased sales. As we continue to progress through the new web phases, the future of marketing is certainly interesting.
