World Hunger Essays
World hunger is a serious global problem that affects millions of people around the world. It is estimated that 850 million people, or roughly one in nine of the world’s population, suffer from chronic hunger and malnutrition. The majority of those affected are located in developing countries where poverty and food insecurity are rife. In these countries, poor access to essential resources such as land, water and adequate nutrition contribute significantly to the widespread issue of world hunger.One key factor that contributes to world hunger is agricultural policy. Agricultural policies can have a major impact on production levels, crop yields, prices and availability for farmers in both developed and developing countries. Poorly constructed agricultural policies often lead to market failures which result in decreased agricultural production or higher costs for inputs such as fertilizers, seeds, or equipment leading to an overall decrease in available food supplies at local markets. This lack of accessible food has been identified as one of the main causes behind chronic malnutrition and undernourishment among vulnerable communities around the globe. Another important factor contributing to world hunger is climate change; extreme weather conditions can cause droughts or floods which can wipe out entire crops resulting in significant losses for small scale farmers who depend heavily on their crops for income and nourishment purposes. Additionally, climate change has led to increased temperatures causing desertification ” a process by which fertile soils become degraded due to prolonged periods without rain – further depleting valuable farmland needed for growing edible plants needed by impoverished communities globally . In order address this pressing issue solutions must be implemented at both local community levels as well as international ones through organizations like UNICEF . Locally governments could implement sustainable farming practices designed increase crop yield while conserving resources such as soil quality or water usage; NGOs such as Oxfam could provide assistance with educational programs teaching rural communities innovative ways produce more food with fewer resources; At an international level , governments should focus expanding aid programs targetted towards developing nations , increasing investment infrastructure projects , providing subsidized loans smaller scale farmers so they can purchase access modern technology needed grow better crops etc . Ultimately it will take a concerted effort between government organizations , NGO’s public private partnerships if we hope make any real progress combatting this devastating phenomenon known World Hunger .
