Managers should ensure that they explain how they can influence each aspect mentioned in the theory. In response to a recession, managers can enhance employee performance by altering their team's behavior. They should recognize that modifying behavior is possible through intentions. By modifying their attitude (intent), such as reinforcing job security and the potential for growth within the company, managers can greatly impact employee performance. When faced with uncertainty, many team members may choose to leave or become uncooperative. Hence, it is crucial for managers to take appropriate measures to mitigate these challenges.

The next step is to allow employees to have a say in changes in job processes to enhance performance and help determine goals. Ultimately, when the team understands that their performance is within their control, it brings about a change in their intent and behavior.
