What is Self Fulfilling Prophecy?
A self-fulfilling prophecy is an anticipatory belief that, once believed to be true, becomes a reality solely because of the expectation itself. It is based on the notion that humans are heavily influenced by their own expectations and beliefs, so when they believe something to be true they act accordingly in order to make it happen. This can have both positive and negative consequences depending on the situation. On the positive side, self-fulfilling prophecies can help people achieve what they want if they use them properly. For example, if someone believes that studying hard will lead to good grades then he or she may put more effort into their studies which ultimately leads to success in school. In this way, believing in oneself can actually help one accomplish goals that otherwise would not have been achievable with just hoping for them instead of taking actionable steps towards achieving them.On the other hand, self-fulfilling prophecies can also lead to negative outcomes if used incorrectly or without thoughtfulness. If someone has low expectations for themselves then they might not put as much energy into a task and end up underperforming as a result; this could cause even further discouragement which perpetuates a cycle of negativity leading nowhere useful or productive. In either case though, it’s important to remember that our thoughts and beliefs do matter because they shape how we approach tasks and determine whether or not we succeed at them in the long run so having faith that you will reach your goals no matter what obstacles come your way is an essential part of reaching any level of success.
