What is Moderate Alcohol Consumption?

Therefore it is important to be aware of the risks associated with drinking alcohol and make sure you drink responsibly if you choose to consume it at all. The Australian Government Department of Health recommends that healthy men should not consume more than two standard drinks per day while women should limit their intake to one standard drink per day. A standard drink is defined as 10 grams (12-14ml)of pure alcohol which equates to 100mls (3½ fluid ounces)of wine or 333mls (11 fluid ounces)of beer or 30mls (1 fluid ounce)of spirits. For those who don’t want any health risks or social issues with drinking alcohol at all then abstaining altogether is always an option too.
