What is Lymphatic System?
The lymphatic system is an incredibly important part of the human body. It helps to keep our immune systems strong, protects against infection and disease, and regulates the body’s fluid balance. The lymphatic system consists of a network of vessels that carry a clear liquid called lymph throughout the body. This liquid contains immune cells such as white blood cells which help fight off infection and disease. The system also plays an important role in helping to maintain blood pressure by draining extra fluid from the tissues back into the bloodstream. The main components of the lymphatic system are the lymph vessels, nodes, spleen, thymus gland, tonsils and adenoids. These all work together to fight off infections and disease-causing agents such as bacteria or viruses by trapping them in the nodes or filtering out any foreign particles in the spleen. Lymphocytes (a type of white blood cell) are also formed within this system which helps to attack any invading organisms that may enter our bodies. In addition, some organs like our intestines contain specialized tissues that produce antibodies which can be released into our bloodstream whenever they detect something foreign or potentially dangerous entering our bodies.Lymph is collected from tissues around your body before it is filtered through these components on its way back towards your heart where it eventually gets absorbed into your bloodstream again. This process helps ensure that any pathogens present in your tissue get filtered out before being re-circulated throughout your body so they can’t cause harm elsewhere in you system.Overall, this complex network plays a vital role in keeping us healthy by protecting us from infections and diseases while maintaining fluid balance within our bodies so we can function properly at all times.
