Compassion Fatigue, which is also referred to as burnout or "vicarious traumatization" or "secondary traumatization," happens when caregivers become emotionally drained due to the stress of caring for individuals who have undergone trauma or are in distress (American Institute of Stress, 2014, para. 2). If not addressed, this condition can lead to emotional exhaustion for caregivers, result in illnesses related to stress and possibly cause them to leave their profession (Varner, 2004, para. 3).

In order to prevent overwhelming stress, it is crucial to identify early signs of stress and take appropriate steps. These measures may include taking breaks from work, prioritizing self-care and relaxation, maintaining a healthy diet, and getting enough rest.

These practices should become part of my daily routine.

While I was familiar with SOAP notes and DAP notes, I hadn't taken into account the other types of forms we needed to use such as the Admission form, ISP form, and discharge forms. Through completing these forms and observing others' work, I have gained valuable insight and knowledge in this field.

I found the discussions and positive feedback to be highly enjoyable, and I took thorough notes to reference in the future. In general, this class has greatly benefited me by providing the necessary knowledge to assist my clients effectively.
