Following the initial hurricane onslaught, a period of tranquility ensues. Nonetheless, they swiftly comprehend their position in the storm's calm center and prepare themselves for the imminent second surge. They firmly fasten both themselves and the rafts with ties. Having survived the second wave, they are now left with merely 2 innertubes and some rope as possessions. The third innertube has been lost along with all their provisions of food and water. net using the remaining rope. This endeavor proves fruitful as they manage to capture a fish which they share amongst themselves. Furthermore, they leave the excess fish in the net to entice more catches.

Regrettably, having a dead fish in the net does not attract more fish but rather lures a shark. This shark then attacks Juan and Raul, causing Juan to swim away while Raul tries to defend himself. Tragically, Raul gets eaten by the shark, leaving Juan all alone. After several days, a pilot named Alberto rescues Juan after being asked to search for him by his girlfriend Margarita. Sadly, Alberto's plane crashes on the way back due to low fuel, resulting in his death. Consequently, Juan is taken to the hospital where he receives treatment for dehydration and severe sunburns.
