Introduction

During the adolescent period, many children are subject to various occurrences due to the vulnerability in the growth of their systems. It’s that time that children or teenagers develop or start to show biological, psychological cognitive and social changes in their bodies. During this moment, they experience changes in their bodies and exposure to many conditions in their bodies like anxiety disorders. The study examines children of different ages and adolescent stages to identify the occurrence of the disorder and its effect. The study conducted with the main aim of establishing the development of several types of anxiety disorder among the adolescents of both genders over a period of three years. The participants were chosen using a random sample method with teenagers from 13 different schools and grade system. We applied a questionnaire methodology that we used to collect data from the 13 different schools focusing on questions that related to the disorder effects. We sought research approval from the Rovira I Virgili University’s ethics committee and approval from the Catalan Government’s Department of Education. Results

Correlations between successive study phases ranged from .35 to .45 for S/P, from .41 to .52 for SP, from .28 to .41 for GAD, from. 40 to .48 for SAD, and from .40 to .48 for total anxiety. Within phases, correlations between different anxiety symptoms ranged from .32 to .85 in phase 1, from .38 to .83 in phase 2, and from .28 to .80 in phase 3,” (Voltas et.al, 2016). The SP and GAD generated a fair stability throughout while S/P and SAD had a slight decrease. The girls represented high rates of anxiety compared to boys in the overall phases.

Author’s Conclusions

“Specifically, during the study period, children showed stable levels of SP and
GAD symptoms, and a trend to decrease in S/P and SAD. In the study’s last phase, girls showed higher levels for all anxiety subtypes than boys,”(Voltas et.al, 2016). The girls reflect on having symptoms throughout their adolescence up to their adulthood resulting to negative results in the later stages. The study results imply that there is the need to examine all the anxiety symptoms at an early stage for efficient early detection and treatment avoiding complications in the future.

Conclusion

In conclusion, the anxiety disorder starts to occur to children in adolescent stages which later develop in the adulthood

stage if not detected early. The study conducted a sample of schoolchildren of both genders through screening questionnaires and the results obtained. The anxiety is more dominant to the female gender as compared to the males. It is prudent to conduct early screenings and detection to provide a fast and efficient medication of the disorder and avoid complications in the adulthood stage.
