What is Verbal And Non Verbal Communication?
Verbal and nonverbal communication are two important aspects of effective communication. Verbal communication is the use of words, either spoken or written, to convey a message while nonverbal communication involves using signs, gestures and body language to express feelings and emotions. When both verbal and nonverbal forms of communication are used together, it’s called “interpersonal communication.Both types of communication play an essential role in any successful conversation.Verbal communications involve speech that can be heard by others in the same room or over a phone line. People who speak fluently often rely heavily on this type of conversation to get their point across and understand one another. It allows for back-and-forth dialogue between two people which can help build relationships, foster understanding and even resolve conflicts more effectively than if done solely through written messages or text conversations. Nonverbal communications involve physical action such as facial expressions, tone of voice or posture that conveys meaning without speaking a word aloud. Nonverbal cues help reinforce what is being said verballyfor instance, nodding your head while listening indicates agreement with the speaker; crossing arms might indicate disagreement; rolling eyes may indicate sarcasm; etc.as well as providing subtle clues about how someone truly feels about the topic at hand (e.g., frowning when talking about something positive). This form of unspoken conversation also helps create an atmosphere conducive to open exchange by establishing trust between those involved in the discussionsomething that may not be possible through words alone since there is no guarantee they will always be interpreted correctly or taken seriously by all parties involved. Both verbal and nonverbal forms of communication are essential components for successful interpersonal interactions but it’s important to remember that they do not always have equal weight when communicating with others: sometimes one type will outweigh the other depending on context and situation (e.g., workplace meetings versus social gatherings). So while it’s helpful to understand both methods separately, it’s just as crucial to employ them together in order to maximize effectiveness.
