What is Human Relations Movement?
The Human Relations Movement (HRM) is a term used to describe a shift away from traditional scientific management theories and towards an approach that focused on the human side of work. This focus was driven by the recognition that people are the most valuable asset of any organization, and that in order to get the best out of them, employers must understand their needs, motivations, and behaviors. As such, HRM is concerned with understanding how employees interact with each other as well as how they relate to their managers.The HRM movement began in the early 20th century in response to many criticisms leveled at scientific management theories. One criticism was that these theories ignored people’s psychological and social needs at work; another was that they lacked a comprehensive view of motivation and leadership. In contrast, HRM sought to create an environment where employees could be successful by taking into account their individual needs and desires. One key aspect of HRM is its emphasis on creating positive relationships between managers and employees. By taking into consideration both sides’ interests and trying to find ways to meet each other’s expectations, it helps foster trust between all parties involved. This encourages open communication which can help identify potential problems before they become too serious or too costly for the company. Similarly, by emphasizing collaboration rather than competition among workers it can improve morale while also leading to better performance overall from those involved in a project or task. In addition, studies have shown that when employers take an interest in their workers’ personal lives it can lead not only to improved job satisfaction but also increased productivity levels as employees feel valued for who they are rather than just what they do for the company. Finally, HRM seeks to create an organizational culture where innovation is encouraged through rewards or recognition for good ideas which further contributes towards employee satisfaction levels at work. Overall then Human Relations Movement has had a major impact on workplace practices over time with businesses now placing much more importance on understanding their staff’s needs through creating positive relationships between both managers and employees alike if they want them perform at optimal level .
