What is Ancient Egypt?
Ancient Egypt was an advanced civilization that flourished between the years 3150 BC and 30 BC. Ancient Egypt was one of the first civilizations to develop a complex system of government, writing, art, and technology. It is perhaps most famous for its pyramids, which were built as tombs for Pharaohs and their families. The Egyptians also developed an early system of medicine and mathematics, which helped them make great advances in architecture and engineering. The civilization of Ancient Egypt began with the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt in about 3100 BC under a powerful King known as Narmer or Menes. The Pharaohs were seen as divine rulers who were responsible for maintaining order over both upper and lower regions by protecting them from invasion, providing justice, collecting taxes, building infrastructure such as roads, monuments and temples. They also provided social services to their citizens such as education, health care and agriculture. The Egyptians believed in many gods who had influence over different aspects of life such as fertility or war; they constructed elaborate temples dedicated to these gods throughout their kingdom. The ancient Egyptians developed complex systems of writing through hieroglyphics , which was used to record religious texts on papyrus scrolls. This writing system allowed scribes to document everyday life including legal decisions made by Pharaohs , government regulations , military campaigns , trade agreements with foreign nations , civil engineering projects like irrigation systems and monumental construction projects like the pyramids. Hieroglyphics also allowed artists to create stunning works depicting religious figures or scenes from everyday life. In addition to this written language the Egyptians used mathematics for measuring time using a 365-day calendar system. They also created complex irrigation systems that helped them cultivate crops more effectively than any other ancient society. Ancient Egyptian culture has left behind a rich legacy that still inspires people today in literature , art , music , architecture , fashion and more. Their achievements are still studied by scholars today who marvel at their intricate knowledge of mathematics , astronomy science & medicine along with their unparalleled success in engineering & construction projects like the Great Pyramids at Giza which remain one of the seven wonders of the world today .
