to obtain a doctorate degree in speech and healing therapy so that I can help individuals in our society who encounter similar challenges.The Washington University has a renowned program in speech and hearing science, which is my ideal choice. If I am accepted into this program, it will allow me to achieve my lifelong dream of working with individuals who have hearing and speech difficulties. This holds even more significance for me as I have faced challenges of my own. In 2010, my grandmother passed away, leading my mother and older sister to return to our native country, Afghanistan. During their absence, I took on additional responsibilities including caring for my siblings. Unfortunately, these added responsibilities caused a decline in my grades; however, I worked late nights to improve my academic performance just like how I strive to support underprivileged individuals in our society.

In order to further contribute to the community, I volunteered at YMCA's day care center and served as a desk assistant in a mathematics learning center. Furthermore, thanks to my diverse language skills, I was able to provide assistance as a volunteer in the human resource department of a food bank organization.
