Writing has always been something I’ve enjoyed since a very young age. Growing up, I would write stories and poems for fun as a creative outlet. As I got older, writing became an essential part of my education and was required for almost every class I took in school. It was here that I gained the skills to effectively communicate through writing. My experience with college-level courses further developed my writing abilities by teaching me how to write academically. Throughout my college career, I have written essays and research papers on various topics that have helped me understand the complexity of language and its importance when conveying ideas–an invaluable skill both personally and professionally. I continue to hone my writing skills by setting aside time each week to write creatively. This helps keep my mind sharp while allowing me to express myself without any particular agenda or goal in sight other than simply enjoying the act of putting words together on paper (or computer). Writing has become a form of self-care for me, one that gives me immense satisfaction when done properly. Although it can be challenging at times, especially during more complex assignments like academic papers or long-form articles, overall the experience is rewarding because it makes me feel proud of what I am able to accomplish when working hard enough at it – namely turning thoughts into tangible ideas that can be shared with others.
