The process of decision- making has an essential role in accomplishing a particular goal of an organization. This is also applicable in the educational system wherein sound decisions should be made in order to enhance the quality of education that they render to their students. Shared Decision-Making Process is a method by which the importance of tackling the step by step process of creating decisions is observed. Shared Decision-Making Process has the aim of transforming conventional school organizations into learning communities.

They plan to do such by involving local site participants by giving them the opportunity to improve teaching and learning skills. Local stakeholders are empowered in order to affect change in teaching and learning process that involves all parties. It is through this that new approaches to learning and teaching could be introduced by the local community.

The good thing about shared-based decision making is that it gives priority to the participation of the local stakeholders. Doing so, is beneficial because they could be able to fully addressed the problems that is happening in the local level because they are the ones who are most familiar with it. Furthermore, including the whole community in the process also gives the idea of an encompassing kind of development that is not only focus in the school level. The possible disadvantageous effects of this approach to education could come from the conflicting interests that might arise from the decision-making process itself.

Moreover, the planning of the changes that would be made could be a long and tedious process since the proposals made by the design committee is still subject to the approval of the site leader and the local community. The process would not always be easy since proposals have to undergo numerous scrutiny, which entails changes and modifications.

Therefore, it could be concluded that shared based-decision making possesses both positive and negative points. It is beneficial because it seeks the active participation of the local community who are mostly affected by the decisions made. However, like other approaches it also has possible adverse effects, which could arise when disagreements among stakeholders are not deal with properly. As a whole, this method of improving the teaching and learning process is very viable it just needs the cooperation and collaboration of the individuals involved in it.
