The purpose of the Disc Survey is to evaluate four behavior styles: Directing, Influencing, Supportive, and Contemplative. Each style possesses its own strengths and weaknesses that can impact effectiveness. The survey materials will emphasize both the positive and negative aspects of each style.
The DISC Survey can be taken online by following the instructions on the Week One Assignments page. After completing the survey, submit the assignment in the Dropbox by the end of Week Two.
Write a 3 to 5 page double-spaced paper with subheadings for each section. The paper should include the findings from your DISC Survey and cover different aspects such as responses to the following questions:
Describe Your Personal Styles
Upon completing the survey, I discovered that my on-the-job behaviors are assessed usin
...g four distinct styles: directing, influencing, supportive, and contemplative. The findings reveal that I achieved a score in the 98th percentile for directing behavior, 92nd percentile for contemplative behavior, 76th percentile for influencing behavior, and 73rd percentile for supportive behavior.
Based on my DISC Scores, my dominant behavior style is directing. This accurately reflects how I live my life as the owner - guiding and leading my team towards success and helping them reach their full potential. Additionally, I also scored highly in the contemplative behavior style, which means that I excel at accepting tasks and working thoughtfully. Challenges are something I welcome as they allow me to see the best in people, ultimately benefiting the business. Collaborating with a diverse team has taught me the value of leveraging their unique backgrounds and experiences to achieve our goals and create a prosperous
future.
Discuss How you Developed Your Styles
Throughout my life, career, and family, I consistently observe a pattern in these behaviors. Being the eldest boy in my family grants me the responsibility of offering guidance and advice. Similarly, among my friends, I serve as their trusted confidant when they seek help to address their issues and work towards achieving desirable results. Furthermore, others have acknowledged my ability to influence people by sharing my viewpoints, providing evidence-based insights, and suggesting the most advantageous course of action.
Assess the Impact of Your Styles on Your Effectiveness
In my life, I have witnessed the consequences of my interpersonal and group activity styles. I often find myself assuming leadership roles due to my aversion to wasted potential or projects going astray. My preference for leading is coupled with a desire to actively engage others and foster effective collaboration.
Identify a Target for Change and a Specific Change Strategy
Upon completing the DISC survey, I have identified a weakness in my supportive behavior style. Nevertheless, I partially disagree with this finding as I genuinely derive satisfaction from offering support and motivation to individuals in their pursuit of goals. However, when I perceive their objectives or endeavors as improbable to succeed, honesty becomes crucial to me. Though the future cannot be predicted, truthfulness holds great importance for me. Based on my previous work experiences, numerous project failures have resulted from inadequate management or planning. Hence, while endorsing logical ideas and encouraging people to pursue their aspirations, I emphasize the significance of establishing a robust plan and guiding them towards the appropriate path
for attaining their objectives.
If there are specific topics you wish to avoid, you can omit them from your paper and concentrate on other styles, events, or factors.
Your assignments must be submitted to the Dropbox by 11:59 P.M. (MT) on Sunday, the end of week two. This assignment carries a total of 100 points.
