In Metro Manila, a research was conducted to identify the preferred review school and the qualities future reviewees look for in a review center. The study surveyed over 500 graduating accountancy students from six universities and its findings are discussed in this paper.
The main purpose of the study was twofold: firstly, to assist review centers in improving their quality by identifying strengths and weaknesses; secondly, to collect feedback from students about what they anticipate from these establishments. The results showed that Metro Manila-based students preferred CPA Review School of the Philippines (CPAR) as an accountancy review center. The research found five vital qualities that all review centers should possess: effective teaching methods, a high passing rate, competent faculty members, inclusive handouts and materials, and a favorable learning environment. In light of these
...findings and recommendations are discussed in detail for review centers. Pursuing Bachelor of Science in Accountancy (BSA) is necessary for those who want to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). To be certified as such requires passing an accountants' licensure examination with an average score of 75% or higher. Any grades lower than 65% attained in subjects like Theory of Accounts, Business Law and Taxation, Management Services, Auditing Theory, Auditing Problems Practical Accounting Problems I and Practical Accounting Problems II will not be accepted. Therefore, students must put forth substantial effort to pass this exam successfully.
According to a survey of 529 students, 98% preferred enrolling in a formal review course at a review center to help them prepare for all the subjects they needed to take. Of those surveyed, 516 students planned on enrolling in such a course (as shown in tabl
4). However, finding the right review center can be challenging as all claim to offer the best CPA review with innovative methodologies, experienced professors, comprehensive subject review, and review aids. Furthermore, they often use catchphrases like "CPA Program at its BEST" and "Review Center That would lead to your Success". This can leave candidates confused about where to spend their time and money.
With no knowledge of the "best review school," students resort to word of mouth, advertising, and referrals. To determine the desired quality students seek when selecting a review school and which institution is currently preferred, this study aims to provide assistance in two regards. First, it hopes to enable review schools to improve their quality, recognize deficiencies, and understand qualities sought by students. Second, it hopes to encourage students to express their opinions about the essential attributes that review centers should have.
