What is Preparing The Patient?
Preparing the patient for an MRI is an important part of delivering quality care. Here are steps you can take to best prepare your patients for their MRI:1. Explain the Procedure: The most important step in preparing your patients for their MRI is to ensure they understand exactly what they are about to undergo. Explain the entire procedure and all its risks clearly, using appropriate terminology and non-medical language if necessary. Make sure your patients know that they can stop or pause at any time during the procedure if they feel uncomfortable or anxious.2. Provide Reassurance: Let your patients know that you are there with them every step of the way, and provide reassurance that everything will be ok during and after their MRI scan. Anticipate any questions or concerns they might have beforehand and address them directly so there are no surprises when it comes time for their scan. 3. Prepare Appropriately: To make sure your patient is ready for their MRI, you should ask if they have any pacemakers or other medical devices in their body that could interfere with imaging results (if not already noted). Also discuss whether there are any pieces of clothing or jewelry that need to be removed before entering the scanner room so as not to cause interference during scanning processes – this includes all metal objects such as piercings, watches etc., even undergarments containing metal wires/hooks/zippers etc. Advise against carrying anything into the scanning room including keys, cell phones etc., since these items may interfere with image results too. 4. Follow Guidelines: Make sure all safety guidelines and protocols related to MRIs are followed properly so as not to put your patient’s health at risk; this includes ensuring proper use of masks/shields (if applicable) within scanner rooms while working around potentially hazardous equipment like magnets etc. Additionally ensure all additional staff members who will be present in scanner rooms follow established safety protocols too. 5 .Communicate Throughout Scanning Process: Continuous communication between yourself and your patient throughout their scanning process is essential – talk frequently about how they’re feeling & ask them if anything needs adjusting (like positioning/positioning aids). Letting them know what’s happening every step of way will help keep them calm throughout process.
