What is Germany And Austria Hungary?

Germany and Austria Hungary have a long, intertwined history. They are both located in Central Europe, and have been neighbors for centuries. Germany was unified in 1871, while Austria Hungary formed the Austro-Hungarian Empire in 1867, after the two countries were divided into separate kingdoms for hundreds of years.The two countries’ cultures are strongly intertwined. Both Germany and Austria Hungary share a language German as well as many cultural similarities such as cuisine, music and architecture. During World War I (1914-18) they fought on opposing sides: Germany allied with the Central Powers against Austria Hungary’s ally Russia and its allies Britain and France. In 1918, following defeat at the hands of Allied forces, the Austro-Hungarian Empire collapsed amid revolution and civil war; both states were occupied by foreign powers until 1945 when World War II ended in victory for Allied forces led by the Soviet Union and United States. Following this tumultuous period both nations experienced significant economic growth during their postwar eras; although East German growth was stunted by its separation from West Germany due to Cold War politics (194590). Today the countries remain close allies despite their different political systems: while West Germany adopted democracy with a federal system after its reunification in 1990; Austria remains an independent republic governed by a parliamentary system since 1955 when it declared itself neutral during Cold War politics. The two countries cooperate extensively on issues ranging from security to trade to environmental protection through various international organizations including NATO ,the EU ,and UNEP. Both nations also remain major contributors to global culture through literature, art ,music ,and film. Many famous writers such as Franz Kafka , Thomas Mann ,and Hermann Hesse hailed from either country ;while Austrian film director Otto Preminger’s work influenced many later filmmakers including Francis Ford Coppola. This shared cultural legacy allows Germans and Austrians to form strong bonds despite their historical differences.
